Youth & Vocations

Resources and programs designed to inspire youth ministry leaders and young people.

About Youth and Vocations

Youth Guilds have been grooming grounds for tomorrow's church. All Archdiocese of Harare youth guilds have representatives at Uganda Martyrs Parish . The youths are encouraged to join guilds of their choice.

Sts Simon Peter and Mary

Sts Simon Peter and Mary is relatively a new kid on the block. Having originated outside Harare Archdiocese has not hindered the youth from joining the group in huge numbers.
They have patterned themselves along the other youth guilds, embedding Christian values in their members. This has paid off handsomely as they now enjoy a reputation of leading in producing married couples.

Sacred Heart of Jesus

Sacred Heart Guild Youth was founded in the late 90s and Uganda Martyrs was among the first parishes to establish this Guild. The Guild is a youth version of the senior Sacred Heart Guild,Mwoyo Musande and they both share similar colours and devotions.
Uganda  Martyrs Mwoyo Musande Youth Guild has been prolific in producing religious vocations. The first priest of the parish came from them and in their short history they have provided seven priests and two religious sisters.
Once this guild reaches adulthood and leave they regroup informally calling themselves Mwoyo Musande old school. Through the Old School Group they continue to make immense contributions to the parish.

Sts Alois and Agnes

St Alois and St Agnes Guild enjoys a good following.Being the oldest youth guild a number of present able lay parish and archdiocese administrators have passed through their ranks.
The guilds former members have also informally formed a community they call Legends. The Legends have carried on their boisterousness from their youth evidenced by lively gatherings. They too continuously provide unsolicited invaluable support to the parish.

Altar Servers

The Altar Servers consist of both boys and girls at Uganda Martyrs Parish, a shift from the traditional boys only. With dedication these sometimes very young children in silence play a necessary role at every mass.
Every week in their spare time they gather at the church and practice and practice. It is no surprise they prayerfully serve at every mass with mechanical precision and are a joy to watch.

Missionary Childhood

Missionary Childhood a group originated by St John Paul II has captivated our very young, some who are yet to attend school.
At an early age these children have become familiar with the church's liturgy and other norms as they actively participate in church events. The group interacts with similar groups from other parishes and at a tender age has grasped the church's universality.
